Finally! Episode Zero is done. Now begins the quest of the hero of the story, Leonus.
Alright! I just finished writing up the next 9 pages of Alien Gladiators. Now we begin focusing on Leonus and his ascension to Supreme HyperGalactic Combat Champion, the highest rank in arena combat. In this next episode, we’ll see Leonus square off against a new and deadly alien. We’ll also be introduced to a couple of mysterious characters that we’ll get to know as time goes on. OK. Next is rough sketches.
It is quite a challenge to stick to a schedule when it comes to the stages of creating my web comix. What I think I’ll do is try to chronicle each stage in drawing, finishing and publishing each page. First up – rough sketches. This consists of drawing stick- and sack-figures to get poses that carry the story along visually.
I think I’ve figured out a schedule that would allow me to be more consistent and creative with the comix. I’ll start on Thursdays for the sketches and layout, take a break on Sunday, shading on Monday and finish everything by Wednesday. Fridays will be the new launch days. So, tune in Friday evening for the new page.
Here are some sketches of some of the aliens you’ll see in the crowd scenes. I was trying to come up with crowd ideas, with a few rules on the designs. Rule No. 1 – No noses. In this galaxy, no humans are allowed, so omitting the noses made them seem more alien. Rule No. 2 – four or less fingers and toes. They can have multiple arms and hands, or less. But, only four fingers and/or toes. This helps keep the designs simple and quick. Maybe I’ll go back and give some of these the full color treatment.
I finally got the first five pages of Alien Gladiators done. It was an ordeal, but I got the ball rolling. Now, it’s time to really get into the scheme of things. I should, according to my calculations, notes and scheduling (minus the friends, food, mayhem and foolishness), I should be able to crank out a page of fun-filled adventure every week. And now, off to the drawing board, Robin!
Oh.. wait.. it’s just me.
